Lund university is among the oldest universities of europe. It is one of the largest research institution for higher education. Lund university is ranked among the top 100 universities of world. Lund university is located in Lund city of Sweden. There are eight faculties in lund university and more than 50000 students are approximately enrolled in it. Faculties in Lund University Lund University is divided into eight faculties:[24]

Studying at Lund University

The academic year

The academic year at Lund University is divided into two semesters (autumn and spring), each lasting 20 weeks. The autumn semester begins in August/September and the spring semester begins in January. The academic year runs from late August/early September through until early June, with summer holidays during June, July and August. The majority of the programmes at Lund commence in the autumn semester.

When to apply

Students applying for international Master's degree programmes or Bachelor's degree programmes in English have the following application periods:
  • 17 October – 15 January for studies starting in the autumn semester (August/September). Note that a few programmes do not open for applications until 1 December.
  • 1 June – 15 August for studies starting in the spring semester (January). Note that only a few programmes start in the spring semester each year.
Please note that some students may be eligible to apply during the later "Swedish student application round".

Exchange students

Students from a university that has a formal exchange agreement with Lund University can apply through their home university's international office to be nominated for a student exchange. Only nominated students are given access to apply for exchange studies at Lund University via our online student exchange application system. For most faculties/subject areas, nominated exchange students apply during:
  • March-April for autumn semester exchange studies
  • September-October for spring semester exchange studies

PhD students

There is no specific application period for PhD studies. PhD positions are organised and advertised at the department/faculty level throughout the year. It is common for faculties to advertise upcoming doctoral positions during spring (January-March). Check for doctoral positions from our jobs webpage or contact the faculty you are interested in for details on how to apply for PhD studies.

The Lund University Global Scholarship is an academic excellence award targeting top students from outside the EU/EEA. You apply for a Lund University Global Scholarship after you have applied for the programme/or free-standing course you wish to study at Lund University.

Programme-specific scholarships

The Ingvar Kamprad Scholarship is available for students who are applying for the Master's programme in Industrial Design.

Country-specific scholarships

Lund University has been selected by the Brazilian Government to participate in the scholarship programme Ciência sem Fronteiras - Science without Borders. This scholarship programme is open to students from Brazil.

Swedish Institute scholarships

Erasmus Mundus Action 1

Lund University is a partner in several Erasmus Mundus joint programmes (Action 1). As a student on these Master's programmes, scholarship may be available to cover both tuition fees and living expenses. Details can be found on the Erasmus Mundus programme pages.

Erasmus Mundus Action 2

Lund University is a partner in several Erasmus Mundus Action 2 "lots". If you are from an eligible country you can apply for a scholarship to come to Lund University. Scholarships are available to academic staff, PhD students, Master's students and Bachelor's students and may cover both tuition fees and living expenses. Please note that there are only limited opportunities for scholarshps towards full Master's programmes.
