Cyprus Institute Dean’s Distinguished Scholarship 2016

The Cyprus Institute is now accepting applications for Dean’s Distinguished Scholarships to pursue doctoral studies. During the 2016-2017 academic terms, the institute will offer scholarships for these programs-Energy, Environment and Atmospheric Sciences, Computational Sciences Science and Technology in Cultural Heritage. The scheme provides the opportunity to young scholars that are able to demonstrate outstanding academic performance to pursue their PhD studies in one of the Institute’s world class research facilities. The Institute operates under the aegis of the Cyprus Research and Educational Foundation (CREF), which is governed by a Board of Trustees, comprised of leading personalities of the international academic, political and business world.

The Institute accepts IELTS (at least 6.5) or TOEFL (at least 570 paper-based or 220 computer-based) and TWE certificates.

Degree Level: Scholarships are available to pursue their PhD studies.

Study Subject: Programs offered are Energy, Environment and Atmospheric Sciences; Computational Sciences and Science and Technology in Cultural Heritage.

Scholarship Benefit: Successful candidates will receive the following financial support for up to three (3) years that is the minimum duration of the PhD studies, at the CyI:

• Full funding of registration, tuition and bench fees (16,400 Euro per annum)


• A stipend of 14,000 EURO per annum for living expenses


• Travel and relocation expenses from their country of origin

Eligibility Criteria: A selection committee comprised of experts from the three scientific fields evaluates all eligible applications according to the Institute’s selection criteria. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview.

Eligible Nationalities: Cypriot and international students can apply for these scholarships.

Admission Requirement Cyprus Institute Dean’s Distinguished Scholarship 2016

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have a master’s degree from a recognized accredited institution, with a strong academic record in a major field of study and background relevant to the proposed graduate-level studies with a GPA at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent. Strong computational skills to allow competent search and analysis appropriate for the selected field of study.

Test Requirement: GRE general test scores, or equivalent. Applicant will be asked to submit GRE scores in the application form. An unconditional offer cannot be made until GRE scores are submitted.

English Language Requirement: The Institute accepts IELTS (at least 6.5) or TOEFL (at least 570 paper-based or 220 computer-based) and TWE certificates.
