Scholarship Description:

IEB is providing two PhD Scholarships for a period of 3 years (with the possibility of extension for an additional year), commencing in the 2023-2024 academic year. The scholarships are intended for students who wish to pursue a PhD in Economics at the University of Barcelona.

The selected candidate will undertake their research project under the guidance of IEB Research Program members (interested fields can be found at www.ieb.ub.edu). In addition, they will have responsibilities for teaching applied economics courses in the area of Public Economics at the undergraduate level within the Economics Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business (UB).

IEB, or the Institute of Economic Studies of Barcelona (Institut d'Estudis Econòmics de Barcelona in Catalan), is a research center and think-tank located in Barcelona, Spain. It was founded in 1981 and is affiliated with the University of Barcelona.

IEB's mission is to conduct research and analysis on economic issues, provide policy advice to government agencies and private organizations, and offer training and education programs for professionals in the field. Scholarship Benefits:

The yearly gross amount of the stipend is 17.220€ (Salary comes with full social security benefits). The scholarships also cover PhD tuition fees and travel grants for conferences.

The scholarships are funded by the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB).

Eligibility Criteria:

The candidates must have a Master in Economics completed by summer 2023 and apply to the PhD program in Economics, University of Barcelona (http://www.ub.edu/school-economics/phd-in-economics/).
