Carnegie Mellon University, a private educational and research university was established in 1900 by Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie Mellon University is also known by the names – Carnegie Mellon or CMU. Carnegie Mellon University is located in Pittsburg area in Pennsylvania. In 1900 the university was named Carnegie Technical School, then in 1912 it became Carnegie Institute of Technology, in 1967 it merged with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research and was finally renamed as Carnegie Mellon University. The University has an undergraduate strength of 5705 and post graduate population of 5265. The University also has academic staff strength of 1368. The University has one main campus in Downtown Pittsburg and another campus in Oakland neighborhood. Carnegie Mellon University has an international campus in Qatar and another extension level campus in Mountain View, California. The University also has built and renovated many of its historic buildings such as the Baker Hall, Posner Hall, Newell Simon Hall, Doherty Hall etc. There are nearly eighty one buildings owned by the University in USA. The Tepper School of Business under Carnegie University has a satellite center in downtown Manhattan. Similarly the Heinz College has centers in Adelaide, Australia and Washington DC. The University also has a North Hollywood Center in Los Angeles where it offers Master of Entertainment program. Carnegie Mellon University has seven colleges under its fold – The Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Institute of Technology, College of Fine Arts, College of Humanities and Social sciences, Mellon College of Science, H.John Heinz III College and the School of Computer Science. The Tepper School of Business under the University offers undergraduate programs in economics and business administration, graduate programs such as MBA and joint degrees in Computational Finance, executive MBA in wealth and asset management for working professionals and doctoral degrees in management.
