University of Columbia, established in 1754 is a private educational establishment in the USA and located in the New York City.  Columbia University is a part of the Ivy League apart from the seven other members of the league. The University was established much before the American Revolution and hence is regarded as a Colonial college as it was established by a royal charter of King George II of Britain. Columbia University is located at the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The University offers Bachelor of Arts degree through the liberal arts Columbia College and Bachelor of Science degree through the Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science. School of General Studies offers both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. The University has Schools in the following areas of study – Architecture, Planning and Preservation, Arts, Science, Business, Continuing education, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Engineering and applied sciences, Arts & Science, International and Public Affairs, Law, Social work etc. These schools are situated in the Morningside Heights campus and the Columbia University Medical Center at the Washington Heights neighborhood. The Columbia University Medical Center also has a hospital in the campus. The University is also known for its growing list of Nobel Prize laureates (97 till date) as it is known for its high research standards.
