University of Phoenix or UOPX is an open enrollment based private educational establishment and a part of the Apollo Group which is based in Phoenix, Arizona. The University was founded in the year 1976 by Cambridge educated economist Dr John Sperling. The University of Phoenix is the largest accredited private university in North American region.The University of Phoenix is quite a large establishment with more than 200 campuses around the world. The University also is known for its online educational initiatives for students across the globe. The total number of students enrolled in the various programs of University of Phoenix is about 224880, with 420700 undergraduates and 78000 graduates. There are more than hundred types of degrees offered by the University. Degrees are offered at the Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels. These degrees are usually offered through the nine colleges managed by the University, which are – School of Advanced Studies, College of Natural Sciences, College of Criminal Justice and Security, School of Business, College of Education, College of Nursing, College of Information Systems and Technology, College of Humanities and College of Social Sciences. University of Phoenix has nearly 1500 full time instructors and a whopping 20000 part time or adjunct faculty members. A majority of these instructors hold either a doctorate degree or a master level educational qualification. Class size is generally small with a ratio of 15:1.
