Yale School of Medicine was established in the year 1810 as the Medical Institution of Yale College. Today Yale School of Medicine is a private medical institution located at Cedar Street, New Haven, Connecticut in US. Yale School of Medicine is one of the most respected and admired centers for medical research and healthcare. Yale School of Medicine consistently is been funded by the National Institute of Health due to its outstanding performance in biomedical science. The School of Medicine has twenty eight departments including the historic Child Study Center which was established in the year 1911. Yale School of Medicine also has the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library. The Yale Medical Group under the Yale School of Medicine has 800 practicing physicians in 160 specialties. The Academic programs on offer by the Yale School of Medicine include – Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, Master of Medical Science (MMSc) degree, and joint degrees. MMSc degree is offered as part of the Yale Physician Associate Program and is for students aspiring to be physical assistants. Joint degrees include the following – MD/Juris Doctor (JD) with Yale Law School, MD/MBA with Yale School of Management, MD/MPH with Yale School of Public Health etc. For the Doctor of Medicine degree, students are required to submit a thesis based on their original research. This practice has been in continuance from the year 1839. PhD degree offered by the School include – PhD in investigative medicine and PhD in Biological and biomedical Science (BBS). For applying for the MD degree or MD/PhD degree, a candidate has to complete the AMCAS online application along with the supplemental Yale application from the Office of Admissions.
