Donald A.Wehrung International Students Award will be offered to non Canadian undergraduate students.he Award would give chance for studying at University of British Columbia. Only two campuses of UBC are participating in this award. The campuses are UBC Vancuver and Okanagan Campus.
The Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award helps outstanding international undergraduate students from poor or war-torn countries. The students must prove academic excellence. A right candidate would be one who is unable to pursue post-secondary education without financial assistance.

A Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award is renewable. You will be able to renew for additional three years for undergraduate study or degree completion. This is subject to satisfactory academic performance in their faculty, continues to demonstrate financial need, and maintains their Canadian Study Permit (visa).

Participating Institutions: The University of British Columbia (UBC); Vancouver or Okanagan campus; Canada.
Courses Offered: All undergraduate course at UBC.
Scholarship benefits: The Award includes tuition fee, living expenses.

Eligibility: Nominations will be accepted from secondary schools, recognized international development agencies and their affiliates, registered local or international charitable and not-for-profit organizations. A school or organization may nominate one student for UBC’s Donald Wehrung International Student Award for undergraduate study at UBC’s Vancouver or Okanagan campus.

To be eligible for consideration for the Donald Wehrung International Student Award, the nominee must be:

• an international student, who is neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada, and who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian Study Permit (visa)


• from a war-torn or politically unstable region of the world, and/or from an economically disadvantaged region of the world, and has achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances, with no financial means from family or other sources to pursue post-secondary education, either in their own country because it is unavailable or unattainable, or outside their country because it is beyond their means


• graduating or recently graduated from a recognized senior secondary school; applying for their first undergraduate degree;


• able to demonstrate superior academic achievement (at least an ‘A’ average or equivalent standard) and leadership potential

If a school nominates one student for the Donald Wehrung International Student Award, a non-profit organization may NOT nominate another student from that same school for this award.

Eligible Nationalities: for Donald Wehrung International Students Awards Citizens of ALL countries (EXCEPT Canada) are eligible to apply.

As Donald A. wehrung International students awards accepts only nomination:

• Secondary schools and recognized international, community-based, and non-governmental organizations may nominate candidates using the Nomination form for Donald A. Wehrung awards.

Imporant:

Nomination packages must be postmarked by December 10, 2015. Nominees must also complete the online application for academic admission to UBC by December 10, 2015 and meet the UBC English Language Admission Requirement by February 15, 2016. Although applicants to UBC can specify two program choices in their application for admission, an award nomination will be considered only in relation to the nominee's first choice program.

Early application is encouraged, to ensure an application decision can be made in time for nomination consideration.
