Eramus Mundus Masters Course (EMMC) EPOG - Economic Policies in the age of Globalisation Scholarships 2013-14

The Erasmus Mundus program is a co-operation and mobility programme. It aims to enhance quality in higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world. The Erasmus Mundus program supports high-quality European Masters Courses, by providing attractive grants for students from around the world.

There are two types of scholarships:

  • The Erasmus Mundus Category A scholarship. They can be awarded to third-country masters students who come from a country other than a European country (i.e. not: Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, candidate countries with a pre-accession strategy, potential candidate countries of Western Balkans and the Swiss Confederation)  and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of these countries.

  • The Erasmus Mundus Category B scholarship. They  can be awarded to any masters students who do not fulfil the Category A criteria.

Consequently, a student with a « category A » scholarship receives 24000 euros / year and the maximum amount of money a student with a « category B » scholarship can receive is 13000 euros / year.

It should be noted that, while the Category A scholarships should be considered as “full scholarships” covering all necessary costs of the student during his/her study period in Europe, Category B scholarships have to be considered as a “financial contribution” to the student’s costs while following his/her EMMC studies.

Students fulfilling the eligibility criteria for both Category A and B – e.g. students with a double nationality – can select the Category of their choice. They are entitled to apply only to one of the two categories of scholarship at a time. According to the European Commission rules, students shall not apply to more than three Erasmus Mundus Masters at the same call. Students benefiting from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship cannot benefit from another EU grant while pursuing their Erasmus Mundus masters studies.

Without prejudice to high academic standards, in order to ensure geographical diversity among students, no more than two of the students selected for a scholarship should have the same nationality.

For Academic Year 2013-2014, we expect approximately 17 scholarships (10 category A and 7 category B).
