The Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) is pleased to offer fellowships for visiting postdoctoral researchers in Germany. International students are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

The primary goal of the school is to provide doctoral scholars with an outstanding, supportive environment for learning, research, and career development.

The Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) is a multidisciplinary Graduate School funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) as part of the German Excellence Initiative. The School was established in 2010 to create an innovative working and learning environment for exceptionally qualified doctoral researchers.

Applicants must have an excellent command of English. If English is not their native tongue, they will need to provide an English language proficiency proof when being shortlisted and invited for an interview.

Degree Level: Fellowship is available to pursue postdoctoral research programme.

Available Subject: Visiting postdoctoral fellows will have the opportunity to work on their own research projects which should fit into the academic profile of the Graduate School.

Scholarship Benefits: The Graduate School offers a scholarship amounting to 1.853,00 EUR per month. Research stays must be scheduled for full months (no partial payments possible). Please note that it is not possible to combine this scholarship with any other scholarships and that additional income aside the scholarship needs to be considered. Where applicable, family allowances can be paid according to the DFG guidelines. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to take up their residence in Bamberg for the time of the visiting fellowship.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

As postdoctoral researchers, candidates should have received their doctoral degree (PhD) Applicants should present a research project they want to work on during the fellowship, which must match the academic profile of the Graduate School.

Nationality: International students are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

How to Apply: The application should include: a motivation letter, a CV, a list of publications, a scan of the doctoral degree certificate and a description of the research project including a work schedule covering the duration of the stay (minimum two months, maximum six months) and milestones of the project which should be reached during the fellowship. The application also needs to include this filled in the form. Applications should be sent in one PDF-file to postdocvisit.bagss-at-uni-bamberg.de.
