The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a public diplomacy program by the U.S. government that aims to provide skills training to youth in Southeast Asia. YSEALI's main objectives are to develop leadership capabilities among young people in the region, foster stronger ties between the United States and Southeast Asia, and create a community of cross-border leaders who collaborate to address shared challenges. One of the programs under YSEALI is the YSEALI Fellowship, which brings outstanding young leaders from Southeast Asian countries to the United States to enhance their professional and leadership skills. Additionally, the Study of the U.S. Branch of YSEALI implements the YSEALI Academic Fellowship, specifically designed for young leaders aged 18-25.

Eligible Nationalities:

International students from Cambodia can apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be a registered member of YSEALI. If you are not a member yet, you can register by clicking here.
• Be a citizen of Cambodia.
• Be between the ages of 18 and 25 at the time of application, although exceptional applicants over 25 may be considered if they meet all other eligibility requirements.
• Be a resident of Cambodia.
• Be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in a college, university, or other institution of higher learning, or have graduated within the past four years.
• Have proficient reading, writing, and speaking skills in English.
• Not be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Application Procedure:

• Application window closes on April 16, 2023.
• Interview Period for selected semi-finalists will be held from May 16-19, 2022, with notifications sent only to those who are selected.
• Finalists will be announced in June 2023.
• Participants will travel to the U.S. in the Fall of 2023, subject to travel conditions from August to November.
