Scholarship Description:

Imperial College London is offering scholarships for students who belong to these ethnic groups, Black – African, Black – the Caribbean, Black – Other, Mixed – White and Black African, Mixed White and the Black Caribbean, or another Mixed background – including Black African, Black Caribbean, or another Black background. Imperial college London is one of the prestigious institutions in London and its international enrolment is continuously increasing. This scholarship for students of black heritage will support some part of the tuition fee, and will also provide other allowances. We have listed al the benefits below.

Degree Level:

Imperial College London Presidential Scholarships for students of Black heritage 2023 is available to undertake Masters, Undergraduate level programs at Imperial College London.

Scholarship Benefits:

Each scholarship covers:

  • Home tuition fees up to £18,500* for eligible Master's courses
  • An annual maintenance grant of £16,500
  • An allowance of £1,500 for equipment
  • Mentoring support

(*For the MSc Applied Machine Learning in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and for any Master’s courses in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering the full Home tuition fees will be covered)

Eligible Nationalities:

Students of black heritage are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

To meet the eligibility criteria for a Presidential Scholarship for students of Black heritage, you must be in one of the following ethnic heritages (or their equivalent in the respective application systems):

  • Black – African
  • Black – Caribbean
  • Black – Other
  • Mixed – White and Black African
  • Mixed White and Black Caribbean
  • Other Mixed background – including Black African, Black Caribbean or Other Black background

Certain factors relating to widening participation backgrounds will be considered alongside academic rankings when the College makes final decisions on scholarship recipients. Other eligibility criteria also apply – see How to apply below

Application Procedure:

To apply for a Presidential Scholarship for students of Black heritage, you need to:

1. Search for the course you want to apply for. Please see below the list of eligible Master's courses for a Presidential Scholarship. One of the aims of the Master's scholarship funding is to encourage more Black students to participate in courses that lead to PhD study.

Eligible Master’s courses

  • One-year full-time and part-time Master’s courses in the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Engineering
  • One-year and two-year, full-time and part-time, Master’s courses in the Business School
  • Exclusions: On-line/distance learning courses and courses whose duration is longer than one year (ie part-time courses, the MA/MSc Global Innovation Design & MA/MSc Innovation Design Engineering at the Dyson School of Design Engineering) are not eligible

2. Create an online account and submit your application through our application portal and apply as soon as possible – use our guide to How to apply for additional help

3. Receive an offer of a place for 2023 entry by the scholarship deadline of 23.59 (UK local time), 26 May 2023

4. Firmly accept the offer by the relevant deadline

5. Complete our Presidential Scholarships application form (when it opens on Monday, 7 November 2022) by the deadline of 23.59 (UK local time), 26 May 2023

Outcome of Scholarship
