INSEAD Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff)

This scholarship is an endowed gift to INSEAD from the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (Sylff). The Fund was established in 1987 by the Nippon Foundation in cooperation with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. In its initial phase, the Sylff programme demonstrated its commitment to education through awarding fellowships to promising graduate students in the social sciences and humanities.

Deadline:

11 February each year for the July Class (starts in September).
22 August each year for the December Class (starts in January).

Nearly 69 universities and consortia worldwide have received endowments of US $1 million (INSEAD included). In its second phase the Sylff programme is now building a worldwide community of young leaders.

As a philanthropist and the founding chairman of the Nippon Foundation, Ryoichi Sasakawa articulated a philosophy that remains the driving force of the programme today. "The world is one family", he maintained, "and all mankind are brothers and sisters". The Sylff programme is based on these principles. By helping to create a new generation of leaders, it seeks to overcome the divisions of nationality, religion, ethnic background and politics. Sylff would like to encourage candidates of any nationality to broaden their knowledge and enhance their career opportunities through the INSEAD MBA programme. One award will be granted per class.

Eligibility:

Candidates of any nationality who show strong leadership in a cross-cultural setting. Preference will be given to candidates who require financial assistance.
