Italy PhD Scholarships for International Students at University of Trento, 22 PhD Scholarships is offereing by School of Social Sciences. Scholarships are awarded to study Economics and Management, Development Economics and Local Systems and Sociology and Social Research. The scholarships are awarded for three years which cover living expenses in Trento. The deadline for applications is May 28, 2015.

Eligibility: 

Applications for admission to the PhD Programme described in the previous article, are accepted from candidates, regardless of gender, age or nationality, who hold an Italian “Laurea Magistrale” (Master’s Degree) according to Ministerial Decree no. 270 of 22 October 2004, or a university degree awarded under the previous regulations, or a second level degree awarded by an Italian “AFAM” Institute (Artistic and Musical Higher Education) or an equivalent degree qualification obtained abroad and considered suitable by the Admission Committee. Applications are also accepted from candidates who expect to obtain their degree/equivalent qualification abroad, by 31 October 2015.

Description: The University of Trento is now inviting applications from qualified candidates for 22 PhD Scholarships in its three PhD programmes:

• PhD programme in Economics and Management (6 scholarships)
  The programme focuses on the fields of decision sciences, organization, human and natural resource management with special attention to methodologies used in a behavioural approach to economic studies. Such an approach is increasingly adopted to generate predictions about market dynamics, particularly in the fields of finance, natural resources and tourism, and consumption, as well as to design organizations and institutions.


• PhD programme in Development Economics and Local Systems (7 scholarships) – a jointly PhD programme with the University of Florence. The PhD Programme aims to develop the following knowledge and skills:
  -Research and training activities in applied economics both in academics and at firms level, systems of firms, public and private research centers, and international, national and non – governmental organizations
  -Impact analysis of policies and evaluation/management of programmes and projects
  The PhD Programme is organized in two curricula:
  Development Economics
  Economics of Local Systems
  Both curricula need a good knowledge of the economic and behavioural dynamics both in developed and developing economies.


• PhD programme in Sociology and Social Research (9 scholarships)
  The programme provides state-of-the-art research training and teaches advanced professional skills in sociology and social research. Besides providing a solid foundation in the disciplines, including a broad range of quantitative and qualitative methods, the Programme places strong emphasis on theoretically driven empirical sociology.

Application Procedure: The application must be submitted online, in two stages:
-candidates first need to register on the University website to obtain a username and password to access the UniTn reserved area. Candidates should allow up to 2 working days for their registration to be processed;
-they then need to complete the online application and to upload all the required attachments:
-a certificate of enrolment, listing the examinations and related grades (EU citizens who shall obtain their degree from a public academic institution of the member countries of the European Union may provide a self-declaration as allowed for by the Presidential Decree n. 445 of 28 December 2000, using Form A);
-a letter signed by the thesis supervisor stating that the student shall obtain her/his academic qualification by 31 October 2015.
