Java Coding Problems

About this course

Modern Java continues to evolve with powerful language features, APIs, and runtime improvements that enable developers to build more maintainable, efficient, and scalable applications. This Specialization provides a structured pathway through key capabilities introduced in recent Java releases while emphasizing the trade-offs involved in choosing the right solution for different programming challenges. The journey begins with modern Java fundamentals, including records, pattern matching, date and time APIs, collections, and data structures. Learners then progress to advanced platform capabilities such as functional programming, deserialization filters, the Foreign Function and Memory API, and specialized class types. The final course focuses on concurrency, performance, and networking, covering virtual threads, structured concurrency, garbage collection, runtime optimization, and networking APIs. Across all three courses, learners develop the skills needed to evaluate modern Java features, improve code quality and performance, and confidently apply appropriate solutions to real-world development problems. This Specialization is based on the book, Java Coding Problems, by Anghel Leonard.
