Telehealth: Essentials, Teamwork, and Neurologic Exam

About this course

If you’re a healthcare professional or student, telehealth skills will likely be a part of your practice during your career. In this specialization, you’ll learn the basic skills needed to perform virtual neurologic exams. This specialization is one of five specializations from Duke University designed to provide you with practical skills to conduct telehealth visits. Each specialization is made up of three short courses led by an interprofessional team of health educators. Each specialization shares the first two courses. Beginning with Clinical Essentials of Telehealth, you’ll learn the foundations of what will make any telehealth video visit a success. In the second course, Telehealth: Interprofessional Team-Based Care, you’ll learn about how you work with other health professionals to broaden patient access to care. In this specialization’s final course, Telehealth: Neurologic Assessment, you’ll build on your clinical knowledge to discuss how you can conduct virtual neurological physical assessments. By the end of this course series, you’ll have knowledge you need to complete successful telehealth visits, discern when a virtual or in-person assessment is more appropriate, and leverage teamwork to better serve your community. If you’re interested in gaining telehealth skills in HEENT, musculoskeletal, dermatology, or cardiopulmonary exams, you can take our courses in those fields to complete the other four specializations.
