Virtualization Operations: Monitoring and Troubleshooting

About this course

Welcome to Lifecycle, Monitoring & Troubleshooting in vSphere 8.x, a hands-on course designed to help you manage virtualized environments with lifecycle automation, real-time monitoring, and diagnostic troubleshooting. You’ll begin by learning how to use vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) to manage ESXi host updates using baseline and image-based approaches. Then, explore vCenter upgrade planning, workload migration using vCenter Converter (P2V & V2V), and core disaster recovery (DR) strategies. As you progress, you'll monitor infrastructure health using vCenter dashboards, alerts, and performance charts, and optimize performance with CPU, memory, I/O tuning, and snapshot management techniques. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Upgrade and manage ESXi clusters using image-based lifecycle tools - Perform P2V and V2V workload migrations using vCenter Converter - Monitor resources using vCenter alarms, charts, and task consoles - Troubleshoot alerts using logs, HA tools, snapshot handling, and RVTools In the final section, you’ll work with log files, simulate host and cluster failures, and apply structured troubleshooting practices to resolve issues in a vSphere 8.x environment. This course is ideal for system administrators, NOC engineers, and IT professionals. Prior VMware experience is helpful, though not mandatory. A test lab setup is recommended to practice the labs covered in each module.
