Scholarship Description:

PhD Scholarships available in Applied Physics at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, GIK Institute is open for . The scholarship allows level programm(s) in the field of taught at . The deadline of the scholarship is .

Three PhD scholarships are available at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences (FES), GIK Institute in the Project entitled “New Approaches for Lower Cost, Longer Stability, and Higher Efficiency of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells” approved under the PAK-US Science & Technology Cooperation Program, Phase-V.

These scholarships will include the following:


  • Stipend Rs. 20,000/- p.m. plus fee etc.

  • Four weeks training in USA



Recipients of the scholarships will be involved in the (1) design, calculations, synthesis and optoelectronic characterization of broad spectrum absorbing dyes, (2) development of novel carbon nanofibers as an inexpensive alternative to Pt counter electrodes for DSSC applications, (3) use of solid-state hole transport materials to replace liquid electrolytes in DSSCs, (4) fabrication, optimization and testing of DSSCs, and (5) commercialization of DSSC technology. The area is multi-disciplinary and the students having MS/M.Phil degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Sciences and Electronics Engineering may apply for these scholarships.
