The Department of Geography is pleased to offer a funded studentship for October 2012 entry to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. The studentship is funded through the Higher Education Academy Doctoral Programme. It will pay full-time University UK/EU tuition fees for three years and include an annual stipend worth £13,590 as well as a Research Training Development Fund of £850 per year.
Deadline: 03 Aug 2012
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in geography or a social science discipline relevant to the project (such as media studies or education) and meet the University's standard
English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants should hold, or expect to hold by October 2012, a Masters degree or equivalent qualification demonstrating excellent research aptitude.
Those who do not hold the standard academic entry requirements should in the first instance contact the Department of Geography for advice. Mature students who do not hold the standard entry qualifications but who have relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

The studentship is for full-time study only and applicants must be able to commence their studies in October 2012.
