University of Oslo is inviting application for a postdoctoral research fellowship in ancient DNA and evolutionary genomics of Viking Age plants and animals at the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES). Applicants must hold a PhD-degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree) with a background within population genomics, evolutionary genomics and/or ancient DNA research. The candidate should be able to document strong analytical skills and experience in the laboratory. Experience with ancient DNA, analytical or experimental, will be an advantage. Eligibility:
-Applicants must hold a PhD-degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoUniversity of Osloral degree) with a background within population genomics, evolutionary genomics and/or ancient DNA research. The candidate should be able to document strong analytical skills and experience in the laboratory. Experience with ancient DNA, analytical or experimental, will be an advantage.
-The candidate will work in close collaboration with the rest of the team at CEES, NHM and KHM, as well as our national and international partners (Denmark and Great Britain) within this project. Some time will be spent visiting the collaborating partners overseas. We seek a highly motivated, enthusiastic person with the ambition to gain insight and publish papers in leading, international journals, and in possession of good interpersonal skills and willing to work in close collaboration with others.
-A good command of English is required.

  • Applications are invited for a two-year position as a postdoctoral research fellow (SKO 1352) in the field of ancient DNA and evolutionary genomics of Viking Age plants and animals at the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES), Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo. The Postdoctoral fellow will be part of the team working on the project “Tracking Viking-assisted dispersal of biodiversity using ancient DNA” funded by the Norwegian Research Council.

  • One postdoctoral research fellowship will be available.

  • Applications are invited for a two-year position as a postdoctoral research fellow.

  • Pay Grade: 57-65 (NOK 482 800 -559 600 per year, depending on qualifications)

  • The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
