Scholarship Description: The University of Limerick (UL) at Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies is inviting applications from outstanding researchers in arts and humanities to apply for its Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships/COFUND/Government of Ireland.

Scholarship Provider: The Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies was established at the University of Limerick in 2003 to pursue innovative research across disciplines on utopian thought and practice. The Centre’s research and service agenda is based on the premise that social values, policies, and practices are shaped by hopeful, utopian visions, and that this dimension is critical to the betterment of life for all members of society.

Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

Degree Level: Fellowships are available to pursue postdoctoral programme.

Available Subject: The Ralahine Centre for Utopian Studies is seeking expressions of interest by postdoctoral researchers of any nationality to apply jointly with a UL host mentor to pursue an MSCA Individual Fellowship in the following research areas:
The Utopian Imagination – with a particular emphasis on intercultural and comparative approaches
Ireland, Europe and Utopia
Spaces of Utopian Thought and Practice
Utopia and Language(s)

Eligible Nationalities: Fellowships are available to applicants of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility criteria at a glance:

  • Nationality: All nationalities may apply.

  • Mobility: The researcher must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call September 12th deadline.

  • Experience: The researcher must have at least 4-years full time research experience or hold a doctorate before the September 12th deadline.

  • Deadline: the general deadline for MCSA Individual Fellowship applications is 12 September 2018 (see the Participant Portal).


Application Procedure: Your expression of interest should consist of a covering letter, your CV (including list of publications, participations in conferences, awards and funding received), and a two-page research proposal summary.
