The East Asia Institute (EAI) Research Fellowship Programme, South Korea



The East Asia Institute (EAI) is delighted to offer “Fellows Program on Peace, Governance, and Development in East Asia” for 2016-2017 academic year. The application is open to East Asia specialized scholars and experts from all over the world are eligible to apply for this fellowship program. The primary mission of the EAI Fellows Program is to provide opportunities for East Asia specialists in the area of social sciences, which include political science, international relations, sociology, public policy, and so forth, to conduct research and interact with scholars and students of the countries they visit. The East Asia Institute (EAI) based in Seoul, Republic of Korea, was established as an independent think-tank dedicated to developing ideas and formulating policy recommendations on the main challenges facing the region. The EAI was ranked No. 62 among all global think tanks in the 2015 Global Go-To Think Tank Index Report produced by the “Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program” at the University of Pennsylvania. Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there. 




  • Fellowship is available for pursuing Research.

  • Fellowship is awarded in the fields of political science, international relations, and sociology.

  • The program provides funds ranging from USD 6,000 to 10,000 for each of the Fellows. The grant covers an honorarium for the article, seminar, and lecture, as well as the cost of ground transportation, round-trip economy-class international air flight, hotel accommodation, meals, and a per diem for a total of two-week (or three-week), stay in East Asia (see comments on the Brochure).

Eligibility Criteria: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this fellowship:




  • The application is open to East Asia specialized scholars and experts from all over the world, conducting research in the fields of political science, international relations, and sociology. Ph.D. or another corresponding qualification is required.



Eligible Nationalities: Application is open to East Asia specialized scholars and experts from all over the world are eligible to apply for this fellowship program.



Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.



English language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.
