The Thomas A. Brady, MD Comeback Scholarship Award recognizes outstanding high school student-athletes in Indiana who have demonstrated exceptional perseverance by overcoming significant injury or adversity and returning to excel in their sport. Each year, one male and one female student-athlete are selected to receive a scholarship and are honored during the IHSAA Foundation Impact Awards banquet.

  • Each high school may nominate one male and one female student-athlete.

Application Procedure

Required Documents

Applicants should prepare the following:

  • Completed nomination form
  • Up to two letters of recommendation
  • Supporting information requested in the nomination form

Photographs, newspaper articles, highlight videos, and other supplemental materials should not be included.

Application Process

To apply for the scholarship:

  1. High school administrators, coaches, athletic directors, trainers, families, or community members identify an eligible student-athlete.
  2. Complete the official nomination form.
  3. Each high school may submit one male and one female nominee.
  4. Attach up to two letters of recommendation.
  5. Submit the completed nomination before February 13, 2027.
  6. Selected recipients will be honored at the IHSAA Foundation Impact Awards banquet in April.
