Scholarship Description:

UK The Geological Society Earth Science Week Photography Competition for International Students 2018 is open for . The scholarship allows level programm(s) in the field of Photography taught at . The deadline of the scholarship is .

Earth Science Week 2018 is just three months away, which means it’s time to launch our annual photography competition!

Previous years have seen a host of stunning entries, and we’re hoping for more of your amazing geological images this year, as part of our celebrations of the geology of the UK & Ireland.

The twelve winning images will be displayed at the Geological Society’s HQ in Burlington House throughout Earth Science Week – and as often as we can during the ensuing year – as well as featuring in our popular Earth Science Week calendar.

Previous winners have also featured prominently in the media, including in The Guardian, The BBC and the Daily Mail, to name a few!

This year’s Earth Science Week theme is ‘Earth Science in our Lives’, highlighting the ways in which geology features in our everyday lives – whether through objects, products and services or locations.

For this year’s photo competition, we’re interested in images which reflect geology that’s been important in your life. It might be a place you often visit, somewhere you’ve carried out fieldwork, or simply somewhere close to where you live. As ever, our theme can be interpreted as broadly as you wish – your image might also be inspired by how human activity and geology interact (as in the image above!), or the ways in which geology features in our lives through resources, outdoor activities or as inspiration for artists, writers and scientists alike.

Whatever it is, please send in your entries with just a line or two explaining what the subject of the image means to you.
