Vice Chancellor's Scholarship at School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research



The School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) is pleased to offer Vice Chancellor’s Scholarships for UK and international students. Scholarships are available to pursue PhD programme. The applicant is required to have MA MSC degree in relevant subject. Ielts Academic score 7.0 is required. The Scholarship is available for PhD in Applied Psychology, Community Care, Criminology, Environmental Social Science, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Mental Health, Migration Studies, Social Policy, Social Work and Sociology. Last date to apply is 27th April 2016. The scholarship covers tuition fees at the postgraduate standard home/EU rate (£4,052 per annum) in addition to an annual maintenance stipend of £14,057 per annum (for entry in September/October 2016 only).

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Academic Qualification: Applicant must have a 1st or good 2.1 undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, and ordinarily an MA or MSc at Merit or Distinction level.

Eligible Nationalities: Students of UK and Foreigners are eligible to apply

Scholarship Test/ Selection Criteria: No test is required. Selection will be based on criteria set by university.

English Language Requirement: Ielts Academic with 7.0 band with no band less than 6.5 is required.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:


  • Research proposal of approximately 2,000 words.

  • CV.

  • Two academic references (on official headed paper) that include:

    • full name and status/title of referee.

    • name, address and telephone number of their institution or place of work.

    • details of referee’s relationship to the applicant.

    • full name of the applicant.





Note: references from University of Kent academic staff may be emailed from their University email account. Under the UK Data Protection Act 1998, references received by the University may be disclosed to the applicant.
