Overview

Environmental Health is an undergraduate degree designed to equip students with the skills needed to safeguard public health by applying scientific principles to environmental and workplace challenges. This STEM-designated program emphasizes the importance of understanding and mitigating risks associated with environmental factors.

What you'll study

The curriculum integrates fundamental concepts of environmental health science with practical laboratory and field experiences, as well as policy-oriented education. Students will be exposed to a variety of subjects, including:

Entry requirements

Academic preparation

• Applicants must self-report their coursework during the application process.
• A foundational level of preparation across six subject areas is required for admission.

English language proficiency

• Duolingo English Test: Minimum score of 110.
• TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 76.
• IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0.

Additional application requirements

• Applicants must respond to specific essay questions within the application.
• For those using the Common App: Only UW-specific questions will be considered.
• Standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) are not required for most applicants, but may be necessary for homeschooled individuals or those from non-traditional educational backgrounds.
• Transcripts should not be submitted unless specifically requested by the Office of Admissions.
