This program is designed to facilitate a seamless transition from undergraduate to graduate education, allowing students to complete graduate-level coursework during the final phase of their BS program. Upon successful completion of the BS, students will continue into the master's curriculum, focusing on advanced practice or leadership specializations.

What you'll study

Dual-degree progression: Students will complete the BS in Nursing curriculum and, upon admission to the dual-degree program, may take approved graduate nursing courses in their final semester of the BS program. After finishing the BS, they will progress into the MS curriculum based on their selected pathway.

Graduate-level coursework may include:

Credit substitution: During the last semester of the BS program, students may be permitted to substitute three or six nursing elective credits with an equivalent number of approved graduate credits, contingent upon meeting BS degree requirements and obtaining academic approval.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for the dual-degree program, applicants must meet several academic criteria and submit required documentation:

  • Current enrollment as a matriculated student in the BS Program
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5 in the first and second clinical sequence courses in the BS program
  • Submission of an admissions essay
  • Approval from both the academic advisor and the master’s program coordinator to change program status

Post-admission requirements for the master’s program include:

  • Maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 at the time of BS completion
  • Enrolling in NYU nursing graduate courses within two years of BS graduation
  • Passing the NCLEX-RN examination before re-matriculating into the master’s program
  • Completing at least one year of RN experience within two years of BS graduation prior to starting the MS program
