The Research Master’s in Human Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) is designed to cultivate advanced research abilities focused on understanding human movement, performance, and health. This full-time, research-intensive programme offers students the opportunity to select from four specialisations and engage in a comprehensive research journey, encompassing everything from research design to data analysis and reporting.
The programme spans 12 months and is structured around two main years. In the first year, students will build foundational knowledge and methodological skills, while the second year focuses on independent research projects.

The second year is dedicated to conducting an independent research project aligned with the selected specialisation. Students will engage in research design, data collection, analysis, and scientific reporting, culminating in the completion of a thesis.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited research university, comprising at least three full years of academic study and a minimum of 180 ECTS or equivalent. The prior degree should include foundational knowledge in Anatomy, Physiology, and Psychology at an introductory level, along with adequate research skills and proficiency in Mathematics and Physics.
