Overview

The Diagnostic Radiography with Foundation Year (Hons) program at the University of Derby is an excellent pathway for students who are prepared for degree-level study but may not yet meet the entry criteria for the Honours program. This foundation year equips students with essential academic skills and knowledge, setting the stage for a successful transition into the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography. Graduates of this program will be eligible to apply for professional registration as diagnostic radiographers, subject to meeting the necessary requirements.

The Foundation Year focuses on developing the fundamental academic and professional skills needed for progression into the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree. The curriculum includes a range of modules designed to provide a solid grounding in key areas:

Entry requirements

This Foundation Year route is specifically designed for applicants who may not qualify for direct entry into the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography program but demonstrate the capability to study at an undergraduate level. The general entry requirements include:

• UCAS points: 80
• A Level: CDD
• BTEC: MMP
• GCSE: Grade 4/C or above in Maths, English, and double Science (or equivalent)
• Access to HE: Diploma with 60 credits; at least 45 at Level 3 with a mix of Distinctions, Merits, and Passes
