Foundations of Project Management

About this course

This Foundations of Project Management lays the groundwork for a successful career in project management, aligned with the CAPM® certification framework. You will learn how projects, programs, and portfolios connect, and explore the 10 knowledge areas and 49 processes that drive project performance, and master process tailoring for predictive, adaptive, and hybrid environments that determine the success of the projects. From there, you'll build core planning skills, defining project scope, creating a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and developing project schedules by using network diagrams. Along the way, you'll apply the PMI Code of Ethics and key performance domains that guide professional project management practice. In the final module, you'll switch to leadership: understanding the roles of project sponsors, managers, and teams, applying emotional intelligence, and building the skills to plan resources, solving common project problems, and running effective meetings. By the end of this course, you'll have a complete foundation for managing projects and leading teams and be one step closer to CAPM certification.
