What you'll study

The PGCert consists of two compulsory modules and one optional module, delivered over an eight-week blended learning cycle:

  • Online learning (pre-Oxford): Start with self-directed study using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to complete introductory activities.
  • Supported teaching in Oxford: Participate in a week of face-to-face teaching and learning support in Oxford.
  • Post-Oxford study: Continue with distance learning that includes self-directed and supported activities via the VLE, such as discussion forums and practical tasks.
  • Final study and assessment: Conclude each module with a period of self-directed personal study, followed by the electronic submission of assignments.

The flexible structure allows you to choose the timing of your optional module within the overall one to two-year study period.

Entry requirements

  • A first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree with honours in a relevant discipline; or
  • An equivalent professional qualification in a medicine-related field with post-qualification experience; or
  • Successful completion of the final year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), or an equivalent qualification.
  • Applicants from the USA should aim for a minimum GPA of 3.6/4.0.
