The Reading Specialist (Online) program prepares educators to assess literacy needs and deliver research-informed reading and writing instruction for learners in grades K–12. You will also complete Wilson Reading System® (WRS) Level I training alongside the Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Certification pathway.
The Reading Specialist (Online) program at Drexel University is designed for educators aiming to enhance their skills in literacy instruction for students in grades K–12. This program focuses on assessing literacy needs and delivering research-informed reading and writing instruction. Participants will also receive training in the Wilson Reading System® (WRS) Level I, along with the Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Certification pathway.
The program is delivered entirely online and includes core coursework that builds advanced literacy knowledge and practical instructional decision-making. The curriculum encompasses essential literacy courses, as well as WRS Level I training, necessary for certification. Key subjects include:
