Entry requirements

  • Academic background: Applicants must possess an educational background equivalent to at least a Dutch academic Bachelor’s degree (research university; nominal duration of 3 years).
  • Alternative route: Candidates with a degree from a University of Applied Sciences should have completed a pertinent pre-master’s program, as the faculty does not offer a pre-master’s option for this Master’s.
  • Degree relevance: Applications are welcomed from those holding an academic Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum GPA: A minimum GPA of 7.0 as per the Dutch grading system is required.
  • Selection criteria: Admissions are based on merit and motivation, assessing academic excellence (overall grade average), thesis quality, proficiency in academic English, demonstrated knowledge of (legal) research methods, and recommendations.
  • English language proficiency:
    • IELTS: minimum 7.0 (overall)
    • TOEFL iBT: minimum 100 (total)
  • Required documents: Include transcripts, degree certificate (or proof of completion), CV, motivation letter, thesis/research writing sample (if applicable), and references/recommendations as requested.
