Law Pathways – International Foundation Programme prepares international students for undergraduate study in Ireland through academic and English-language training delivered at our centre in Maynooth. On successful completion, you receive a Level 5 QQI award and can progress to partner undergraduate degrees (subject to meeting progression requirements). Who is this programme for? This programme is designed for students who want a structured route into Irish undergraduate study and who may need additional academic preparation and English support before starting a degree. What qualification will I earn? You will complete a Level 5 Specific Purpose Certificate in International Foundation Studies (awarded by QQI). The award is placed on the Irish NFQ at Level 5 and has an EQF Level 4 equivalence. How long is the programme? The programme runs for seven months, typically split into two semesters (about 12–13 teaching weeks each) plus an examination week. On average, you will study for around 25 hours per week in a classroom-based learning environment. English language study forms at least nine hours of your weekly timetable. It is compulsory and is integrated into academic teaching, with additional support available where needed.
