The Human Centered Design (B.Des) program at Manipal Academy of Higher Education is dedicated to equipping students with the skills to design products, services, and environments that enhance human interaction with technology and the surrounding world. Through a combination of hands-on studio practice, critical making, and applied digital prototyping, graduates are prepared for diverse roles in UX/UI design, service design, and innovation.
Disciplinary Studios: Engage in studio-based learning environments where you will develop essential design skills through guided projects and iterative critiques, fostering collaboration across disciplines.
General Studies: Build a solid foundation through courses in Humanities, Sciences, Mathematics, and business/finance, enhancing your understanding of development, policy, and communication. Language options may include Spanish, French, and German, as offered by the institution.
Interim: Experience an immersive introduction to contemporary art and design practices, addressing relevant environmental and contextual themes.
Electives: Choose from a variety of elective courses to deepen your expertise, pursue personal interests, and explore opportunities for exchange or travel, subject to institutional arrangements.
Internship/Apprenticeship: Participate in mandatory work experience during the summer break between the 6th and 7th semesters, allowing you to apply your learning in real-world industry or community contexts.
