Coventry University is offering fully-funded Ph.D. scholarships for research purposes in the Design and development of next-generation tab-less battery prototypes. The project proposes a unique opportunity to acquire a deep understanding and experience across all aspects of device development, from electrode development, through mechanical assembly, advanced welding, and joining techniques, and ultimately device performance and electrochemical testing.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A minimum of a 2:1 first degree in a relevant discipline/subject area with a minimum 60% mark in the project element or equivalent with a minimum 60% overall module average.

PLUS

  • The potential to engage in innovative research and to complete the PhD within a 3.5 years.
  • A minimum of English language proficiency (IELTS academic overall minimum score of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component).

Additional specifications

Candidates should have a BSc/MSc in chemistry, physics, engineering or closely aligned discipline. Prior experience of electrochemistry and/or advanced joining techniques would be beneficial.
