Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan, offers several prestigious scholarships for international and Japanese students who wish to pursue their undergraduate or graduate studies. Students applying for the 2026 entrance examination to the English-taught Undergraduate and Graduate Programs are eligible to apply for the Sophia University New Student Scholarship and the Adachi (Benefactors’) Scholarship at the time of admission.

Benefits

1. Sophia University New Student Scholarship (For International & Japanese Students)

  • Covers one-third, one-half, or full tuition for the first year.

2. Sophia University Benefactors’ (Adachi) Scholarship (For International Students only)

  • Covers full tuition + education enhancement fee for the first year.

3. Sophia University Graduate School Scholarship for Fostering Researchers in Doctoral Program (For Doctoral Students, no application required)

  • Awarded based on recommendation by graduate schools.

  • Supports outstanding researchers to continue doctoral-level research.

  • Foreign nationals holding visas other than student visa (can apply under Japanese students’ category)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must apply for the 2026 entrance examination at Sophia University.
