DePaul University

DePaul University was established in the year 1898 and was originally known as St.Vincent College. This Roman Catholic University is named after the 17th century French priest St Vincent de Paul. The University is a private establishment dealing with education and research activities. DePaul University is located in Chicago, Illinois. The University has six campuses in total, consisting of two main campuses and four suburban locations. DePaul University is quite a large private university and is a member of the Big East Conference. DePaul University has more than 25000 students covering all the US states and has nearly 140000 alumni base from more than fifty different nations. The Lincoln Park campus of the University is the largest among the other six campuses. Loop campus of the University is at downtown Chicago. The four suburban campuses of the DePaul University are – Rolling Meadows, Oak Forest, Naperville and O’Hare. DePaul University offers more than 275 undergraduate and graduate courses to its students through its nine colleges and schools. The College of Commerce, at the Loop campus consists of the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. The School of Business offers full time and part time MBA degree programs apart from many undergraduate degree programs. The College of Communication offers courses in media studies, organizational communications, culture, television, film and radio, public relations, journalism and advertising. College of Law under DePaul University enrolls more than 1000 law students every year to its various academic programs such as health law, intellectual property etc. College of Computing & Digital Media actually has two schools under it – School of computing and the School of Cinema and Interactive Media. The College offers popular programs such as computer network security, information assurance, Digital cinema program etc. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences under DePaul University has the School of Public Services under its fold. The college offers many graduate and undergraduate courses to students. School of Learning targets adult students for learning activities. The School of Education offers courses in elementary education, secondary education, early childhood, physical education etc. The School of Music has instructors from Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera. The school offers programs such as – sound recording technology, jazz studies, music composition, performing arts management, concert performance etc. The Theatre School has the unique distinction of presenting more than 40 productions each season including 10 for the general public.
