Additional learning focus: The program incorporates content related to Indigenous cultural safety for health providers (as applicable to your chosen option) and encourages students to utilize evidence and scholarly methods to enhance nursing education and practice improvement.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants must possess a Baccalaureate in Nursing (or equivalent) with a minimum B+ (77%) average calculated over the last two years (or equivalent of 30.0 UVic units).
  • Applicants must complete an upper-level (300 or 400) undergraduate statistics course from a recognized post-secondary institution, achieving a final grade of B or higher, completed within the last five years.
  • For those applying to the Nurse Practitioner option: an interactive Indigenous cultural safety course for health providers completed within the last five years (e.g., PHSA San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training).

Career prospects

Upon successful completion of the Nurse Educator program, graduates may be eligible to apply for a post-study work permit, contingent upon meeting the Government of Canada's requirements.
