Overview About the Program The Doctor of Philosophy in Biology and Chemistry at the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge research under the guidance of experienced faculty members. Each student will be assigned a primary supervisor from the academic staff, along with associate supervisors to enhance their research experience. Students are expected to fulfill attendance requirements and will undertake a significant thesis project that reflects their research findings in their chosen field. Prospective supervisors will be introduced to students to facilitate the development of research projects tailored to their interests.

To be eligible for selection into a Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) program, candidates must have completed a research project equivalent to at least 25% of a year’s full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework, achieving a grade of 70% or higher, or possess a master's degree (research) in a related field.
