Providing scholarships to individuals from developing countries and specific nations listed below for their education at Czech public higher education institutions is a significant aspect of the Czech Republic's foreign development cooperation with a long-standing tradition. Since the late 1950s, more than 20,000 foreign students have successfully completed their studies at Czech universities through the support of the Government of the Czech Republic scholarships.
These government scholarships, governed by Resolution No. 77 of the Czech Republic's Government dated 28th January 2019, are part of a collaborative foreign development cooperation program undertaken by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (https://www.msmt.cz/) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (https://www.mzv.cz/). The initiative also involves the Ministry of Health (https://www.mzcr.cz/) in coordination to facilitate educational opportunities for deserving students from the specified countries.
