Application Procedure:

Here are the steps to follow when applying for Dalhousie University Scholarships:

1. Begin by logging into the FGS Scholarship Management Platform. If you already have a Dalhousie NetID, select "Use Dalhousie NetID" for login. If not, enter your email address and create a password. You only need to create one account, even if you plan to apply for multiple opportunities.

2. Create a new scholarship application or modify an existing one by selecting from the list under "My applications" on your homepage. Each applicant is allowed to submit only one application per competition, so please refrain from submitting multiple Harmonized Scholarship applications.

3. If you are a Master's applicant who has applied for the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition, you have the option to opt in to use your CGS-M application within the Harmonized Scholarship Process. To do this, select "Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In" as the submission category and proceed with the application. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will link your CGS-M application to your opt-in form, including reference letters and transcripts submitted for the Tri-Agency CGSM competition. The deadline to Opt-in is December 1st, which coincides with the CGS-M application deadline set by the Tri-Agency. If you choose not to opt in with your CGS-M application, you must complete a full Harmonized Scholarship Application to be considered for other awards.

4. It is recommended that all applicants complete the self-identification questionnaire found in the Online Scholarship Platform. This helps administrators ensure that applicants are appropriately sorted into the review process for award opportunities with specific eligibility criteria. Information provided in this questionnaire remains strictly confidential and is not visible to reviewers.

5. Progress through the application by clicking "Next" at the bottom of each page. Use the "Save" option to close the application and return to it later for edits or updates.

6. Official transcripts should be obtained and uploaded by the applicant directly in the scholarship portal, following the instructions provided in the application. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will not supply transcripts from admission applications. In cases where transcripts are from multiple institutions, they must be combined into a single PDF before uploading. For the harmonized scholarship process, unofficial grade reports may be used in place of official transcripts for current Dalhousie students.

7. Ensure that all reference letters are submitted within the portal by the deadline, which is January 16, 2024 (or February 15 for non-thesis applicants). After this date, the application portal will close to both applicants and referees, and incomplete applications will not be forwarded for review. Reference letters will not be accepted via email or in hard copy. It is advisable to inform your referees of the deadline a few days to one week prior to January 16 to account for unforeseen emergencies or technical issues. Applicants will receive email notifications from the portal, and a "received" notation will appear in red next to each referee's name once their reference has been completed. Regularly check the status of references before the deadline.

8. To finalize and submit the application, agree to the terms and conditions and click "Save and Finalize."

If you withdraw your application, it must be resubmitted by the January 15th deadline to be considered.
