The Graduate School is offering a full-time PhD scholarship working with theĀ Economics Research Group (Faculty of Business and Law) under the supervision ofĀ Professor Don Webber. This PhD scholarship is funded by Bristol City Council.Ā The scholarship is available from 1 October 2013 and consists of an annualĀ stipend of Ā£13,760, subject to satisfactory progress for three years. UK/EU andĀ international students can apply for this scholarship. Eligibility: Applicants should have a good postgraduateĀ degree ideally in economics or a related business subject (geography,Ā psychology, planning, HRM, etc.). Candidates should also be able to provideĀ evidence of good quantitative research skills, although illustrating strongĀ qualitative skills would be a further advantage.

Scholarship Description: ThisĀ PhD Scholarship is funded by Bristol City Council. The aim of the scholarship isĀ to support an innovative research project that builds upon the interdisciplinaryĀ nature of our economics subject cluster and which seeks to identify andĀ recommend real world economic policy to improve the employability and welfare ofĀ individuals living in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Part of the research will beĀ based around creating a typology of employment transitions for individuals fromĀ the rich to the poor ends of the society continuum.

What does it cover?The scholarship is available fromĀ 1 October 2013 (or 1 January 2014) and consists of an annual stipend of Ā£13,760,Ā subject to satisfactory progress, for three years.Ā In addition, full-timeĀ tuition fees will be covered for three years (Home/EU rates only).Ā OverseasĀ applicantsĀ will be required to cover the difference between the Home/EU andĀ the overseas tuition fee rates (approximately Ā£7,565 per annum).
