Erasmus Mundus International Scholarships for MA LLL Programme 2015


Applications are invited for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships available for Masters in lifelong learning (MA LLL) programme in the academic year 2015-2017. Two types of scholarships are awarded i.e. Partner country scholarships worth up to €47,000-49,000 for third-country students and programme country scholarships worth up to €35,000 for European students. All MALLL students will study the first year at the Institute of Education,London (IOE). The third semester will be at Deusto University, Spain. For the fourth semester, students can choose one of the three European universities to write their thesis. Programme country students who receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship must study one module of the second semester in July-August 2016 at Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne, Australia. The application deadline is 10 December 2014.



  • Scholarships are awarded for Masters in lifelong learning (MA LLL) programme.

  • Scholarships are available for master’s study at the Institute of Education, London (first year), Deusto University, Spain (third semester) and one of the three European universities to write thesis for the fourth semester. Programme country students who receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship must study one module of the second semester in July-August 2016 at Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne, Australia.

Eligibility: Only individuals who have not previously benefited from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are eligible to apply. MA LLL is a full-time two year programme offered in English. Admission may be granted to applicants who meet the following criteria:
-A Bachelors or Masters degree with good marks from a recognised institution of higher education.
-A satisfactory level of spoken and written English: IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 650 in written paper test; or 280 in computerised test; or 100 in internet-based test is mandatory.
-Some work experience relevant to lifelong learning: in policymaking, teaching, research or management – whether in international, governmental, non-governmental organisations, private enterprises or institutions of learning.
-Submission of an academic qualification essay addressing any aspect of lifelong learning, and drawing on appropriate research literature.

  • Partner country scholarships can be awarded to students from all countries other than the 27 EU member states and EEA/EFTA states: Turkey, FYROM, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Programme country Scholarships is open for European students.

  • The European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management (MALLL) programme welcomes applications from students around the world. You can apply as a self-funded student or for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. These scholarships are as follows:
    -Erasmus Mundus Partner country Scholarships (for third-country students): The European Commission offers a limited number of Erasmus Mundus Partner country scholarships for third country (non-EU) students. Only less than 8% of applicants in previous years obtained the scholarship. Applicants are advised to look for alternative sources of funding as early as possible. Partner country scholarships can be awarded to students from all countries other than the 27 EU member states and EEA/EFTA states: Turkey, FYROM, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway.
    -Programme country Scholarships (for European students): The European Commission offers a limited number of Erasmus Mundus Programme country scholarships for European (EU/EEA) students. Only less than 8% of applicants in previous years obtained the scholarship. Applicants are advised to look for alternative sources of fundings as early as possible. Programme country scholarships can be awarded to any student who do not fullfil the criteria for a Partner country scholarship.

  • The duration of award is two years.

  • What does it cover?
    Partner country scholarships are worth up to €47,000-49,000 which covers:
    - two-year participation fee of up to €18,000 including tuition fee and mandatory insurance;
    - travel, installation and visa related costs up to: €5,000-7,000;
    - monthly living allowance of €1,000 for 24 months.
    A Programme country scholarship is worth up to €35,000 which covers:
    -two-year participation fee of up to €9,000, including tuition fee and mandatory insurance;
    -travel and installation costs for the study period in Melbourne: €2,000;
    -monthly living allowance of €1000 for two years.

  • The main selection criteria include motivation, academic merit, quality of essay, experience, and English language skills.

  • The applicants who are not selected for the scholarships will receive notification by email in March 2015. Shortlisted candidates will be requested to send hard copies of supporting documents in March 2015. The scholarship applicants on the main list and reserve list will receive the final results of their applications in early May 2015 after the Consortium has received the final selection approval from the European Commission.

  • The mode of application is online. Documents to be submitted along with application are:-
    -Certified copies of academics transcripts (translated into English).
    -EUROPASS CV.
    -English language proficiency test certificate (IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 650 in written paper test; or 280 in computerised test; or 100 in internet-based test).
    -An academic qualification essay based on research literature on any aspect of lifelong learning.
    -Personal statement of motivation (max. 450 words) stating the following: your academic interest in Lifelong Learning Policy, your academic interest in Lifelong Learning Management, and your career plan after the completion of the course
    -Two recommendation letters from former/current supervisors of which one must be academic referee.
    -Passport (photo page)
