If the visit extends beyond one month, the applicant must provide proof of financial support from the host institution to cover living expenses beyond the initial month.
This program is specifically tailored for post-doctoral mathematicians in the early stages of their careers, providing them with a valuable chance to embark on a research sabbatical. This research sabbatical serves as a crucial complement to their teaching and other academic responsibilities, allowing them to sustain a viable research program alongside their duties.
Funded entirely by the Abel Prize in mathematics, the Abel Visiting Scholar Program is managed by the Commission for Developing Countries of the International Mathematical Union. Typically, the program offers up to three grants per year, providing ample opportunities for deserving mathematicians from developing countries to benefit from this enriching experience.
