3. Residency and Study History: Scholars will not be assigned to study in a city, state, or province where they have previously lived or studied for more than six months. Therefore, these scholarships are not suitable for foreign students aiming to continue their studies at a particular university.

   
   



4. Application and Admission Process: Each scholar is responsible for applying directly to the assigned study institution, obtaining admission, securing the necessary visas, and making travel arrangements. 7. Eligible Fields of Study and Restrictions: Academic-Year and Multi-Year Scholarships are applicable to a wide range of fields, except for unsupervised research, medical internships or residencies, and employment. Scholars planning to pursue medical studies will not be permitted to engage in hands-on procedures or direct-care patient services during the scholarship period.

   
   



8. Language Proficiency: Candidates applying for Academic-Year or Multi-Year scholarships who have a native language different from that of the proposed study country must provide evidence of their ability to read, write, and speak the language of that country. This type of scholarship is the most common and popular, with nearly 1,000 being granted for the 2000-01 academic year.

2. Multi-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships: Intended for degree-oriented studies, these scholarships span two or three years in another country. A fixed grant of US$12,000 per year, or its equivalent, is allocated to offset the costs of the degree program. Multi-Year Ambassadorial Scholarships are mainly offered by Rotary districts in Japan and Korea, with 150 such scholarships being awarded for the 2000-01 academic year.

3. Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarships: These scholarships provide an opportunity for intensive language study and cultural immersion over three or six months in a foreign country. Funding encompasses round-trip transportation, language training, and homestay arrangements, with financial support reaching up to US$12,000 for three months and US$19,000 for six months. The program is available for a variety of languages including Arabic, English, French, German, and more.

Please note that even after a Rotarian has resigned from club membership, Rotarians and their relatives remain ineligible for scholarship awards for 36 months.

5. Continuation of Studies: These scholarships are not intended for students seeking to pursue studies they have already commenced at a foreign institution.
