  • Nomination Process: Students cannot self-apply for the fellowship. Instead, nominations are to be made by professional mathematicians, including those who have superannuated but continue to mentor young students. It is preferable that the nominator has been actively mentoring the nominee.

  • Residency and Citizenship: Applicants must be both a resident and citizen of a developing country, promoting opportunities for individuals in regions with fewer resources.

  • Doctoral Program Enrollment: The student must either be pre-accepted to join a doctoral program in the first academic year after the selection or already be enrolled in a doctoral program at a university or research institution based in a developing country.

  • No Age Limit: There is no age limit imposed for student applicants, encouraging candidates from diverse age groups.

  • Nomination for Women: Nomination for women students is strongly encouraged, promoting gender inclusivity in the fellowship program.

  • Fellowship Duration: The fellowship is sanctioned for one year at a time and is renewable annually. Renewal is contingent on satisfactory progress and will cease when the awardee completes the doctoral program or after four years, whichever occurs earlier.
