Empowering Global Education: KAIST University Opens Applications for Prestigious Undergraduate Scholarship


As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering global talent and academic excellence, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) announces the opening of applications for the KAIST University Undergraduate Scholarship for the Fall 2024 intake.


This prestigious scholarship opportunity welcomes all international applicants, including those currently enrolled in other universities, to pursue their undergraduate studies at KAIST. Notably, international students do not require TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) certificates during the application process.


With a strong commitment to diversity, KAIST hosts a vibrant community comprising over 10,700 students from five colleges and seven schools, inclusive of 1,127 international students hailing from more than 90 countries.


The KAIST University Undergraduate Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship covering eight semesters, effectively the entirety of the four-year program. Additionally, students will receive a monthly living allowance of 350,000 KRW and comprehensive medical health insurance, supporting their educational journey in South Korea.

Eligible Nationalities:

  • Applicants with Foreign Citizenship: Individuals holding citizenship outside of Korea.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Parental Citizenship: Neither of the applicant’s parents should hold Korean citizenship; or
  • Korean Origin Applicants: Those of Korean origin must have completed their elementary, junior high, and high school education entirely outside of Korea.
  • Ineligibility: Applicants holding Korean citizenship, including dual citizenship, are not eligible to apply as international students for this scholarship opportunity.

For applicants seeking International Student Admission, here are the KAIST Scholarship requirements:

  • KAIST Scholarships Offered: The university extends KAIST Scholarships to admitted students.
  • Minimum GPA Maintenance: Students are required to maintain a GPA of over 2.7 out of 4.3 at KAIST after completing their freshman year.

English Test Proficiency Requirements:

  • Submission of English Proficiency Test (EPT) results such as TOEFL, IELTS, etc., and Standardized test results like SAT, AP, etc., are recommended, though not mandatory.
  • Applicants without these test results can still apply, and there will be no disadvantages for those who do not provide them.
