Scholarship Description:

The PhD studentship aims to gain a deeper understandingĀ of the theoretical underpinnings of wellbeing and its measurement in EconomicsĀ and Health Economics. It will utilise existing survey datasets of wellbeingĀ indicators in order to analyse the health and socio-economic determinants andĀ the behavioural responses to these that may explain the aggregate trends inĀ wellbeing routinely reported by the Office of National Statistics and willĀ explore through choice-experiments the key determinants of wellbeing for theĀ general population and for individuals suffering from chronic conditions. ThisĀ PhD studentship is funded by UEMS. The research student will benefit from theĀ strong links UEMS has across the University of Exeter, including theĀ experimental economics laboratory and the ESRC funded Centre for Research onĀ Risk and Ambiguity, both based in the Department of Economics, and also linksĀ with The Mood Disorders Centre, the Wellbeing Network and the European CentreĀ for the Environment and Human Health.
