Dublin City University is pleased to offer School of Communications PhD Scholarships to study in Ireland. International applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

The Dublin City University aims to lead the world in research and education.

The university has a particularly strong research record, is sometimes described as a research-led university, and has regularly been recorded as bringing in more research income per members of faculty – or indeed as a percentage of total income – than any other university in Ireland. Its research team working on sensors at the National Centre for Sensor Research is considered one of the best in the world.

Degree Level: Scholarships are available to pursue PhD programme.

Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded within the school of communication. While scholarships are open to those working in a wide array of theoretical, epistemological and methodological approaches relevant to our school, this year, we particularly welcome applications in the following areas:

  • Journalism / Media History

  • Activism & Protest in the Digital Age

  • Digital Methodologies in Communications


Scholarship Benefits: The School now has an opening for up to five funded PhD scholarships. As well as a tax-free stipend of not less than €14,000 plus fees, we also support our students with funding for conference travel and research and offer PhD students opportunities to teach courses.

Number of Scholarships: Five scholarships are available.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • The School of Communications offers two routes for those interested in pursuing postgraduate research, both at MPhil and PhD level. All graduate research applications are processed online through the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC).


Eligible Nationality:  International applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

 

Application Procedure: Applications should be submitted via e-mail to: Ms. Mary Nulty (mary.nulty-at-dcu.ie). Potential candidates should provide a 2,000-word application outlining your research proposal as well as a CV detailing academic qualifications and professional experience to date. Candidates must have consulted with a potential supervisor before applying.
